On May 25, firefighter Roy Bolen died in a car accident while he was off duty. The crash happened on a rainy night on US-180 in Snyder, Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety said he was driving too fast for the wet road, which caused him to lose control and crash. The Snyder community came together to remember him and show respect for his service.
Funeral and Procession Show Respect
A funeral and a special procession were held for Roy Bolen. Many people from Snyder gathered to say goodbye. They waved flags, saluted, and stood quietly as his final ride passed by. Michelle Jenkins, a mother from Snyder whose son recently became a volunteer firefighter, shared her feelings. She said, “I just appreciate all the first responders. My son Riley just became a volunteer fireman, so it really touches my heart, and I respect them so much.”
Remembering a Dedicated Firefighter and Pastor
Roy Bolen was 54 years old. He had worked as a firefighter for the Snyder Volunteer Fire Department for nine years. Besides being a firefighter, he also served as a lay pastor at the Heaven Bound Cowboy Church. Firefighters from nearby counties joined the procession, showing their support and respect for Bolen.
Michelle Jenkins talked about the strong bond between firefighters from different areas. She said, “They’re like a family, like brothers. I saw fire departments from nearby towns come together. It’s amazing to see them help each other when needed.”
The Community Stands United
The Snyder Fire Department asked everyone to stand with them as they remember Roy Bolen. They called him a hero because of his dedication and service to the community. The support from people and firefighters across the area shows how much Bolen meant to everyone.
